San Francisco, Califonia – The Pier 39, El Embarcadero is the host of sea lions. They started arriving since 1990, some people says that the sea lions arrived shortly after the earthquake the population grew to more than 300 within a few months.

In winter the population can increase up to 900 sea lions. During the summer season the sea lions migrate south to the islands for breeding season.

With a plentiful supply of food from the bay and an environment protected from predators, [highlight]the Pier 39[/highlight] Marina proved to be an ideal living situation for the sea lions.
