Stride boldly across a glass-floored lookout for an adventure rich in scenery and wonder. Step out on a cliff-edge walkway where giant glaciers perch above you and the spectacular Sunwapta Valley spreads out below. The Glacier Skywalk experience features waterfalls, wildlife, fossils and more on an exciting 1-kilometre walkway that leads to a platform where glass is all that separates you from a 918-foot (280 m) drop. The walk is presented in an interpretive storytelling format that will connect you to the natural world in a deep and meaningful way.

The Glacier Skywalk experience begins with a five-minute scenic transfer by coach from the Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Centre. Take your time as you journey along the Discovery Trail – a fully-accessible, cliff-edge walkway that extends along the Sunwapta Valley. Look down and you’ll see hints from life thousands of years ago. Look up and you’ll see the most stunning mountain and glacial vistas. Look around and you’ll discover one of the most unique ecosystems in the world – in a place where it’s so hard to survive, the adaptation never ends.

The grand finale to this experience is a glass-floored observation platform 280 metres (918 feet) over the Sunwapta Valley. This is a bird’s eye view that’s fully accessible to all abilities and is an incredibly unique perspective of nature at its finest.

This entire journey is presented in an interpretive story-telling format that’ll connect you on a deeper level with the natural world. It’s a place so special that only a handful of people in the world have had the opportunity to experience it. In other words, it’s flat. out. awesome!

Getting to the Glacier Skywalk

The Glacier Skywalk departs from the Columbia Icefields Glacier Discovery Centre, located on the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93 N) – 1 hour south of Jasper and 2.5 hours north of Banff. The Icefields Parkway has been recognized as one of the most scenic drives in the world, with over 100 visible glaciers, turquoise lakes, rushing waterfalls and numerous hiking trails, picnic spots and campgrounds.

Parking 
All vehicles must park at the Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Centre when visiting the Glacier Skywalk and Glacier Adventure.

Schedule
Tours depart every 15 to 30 minutes from the Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Centre.
