Sir Elton John and David Furnish have finally made their union official! The couple, who have been together for 22 years and in a civil partnership for the past nine, is now married!

According to Us Weekly, the pair wed at John’s home in Windsor, England, last night. And while John told The Today Show anchor Matt Lauer that “we’ll do it very quietly. But we will do it and it will be a joyous occasion and we will have our children,” in 2005 just after their civil partnership, it seems waiting nearly a decade for the big day gave him time to reconsider.

Their wedding, while certainly joyous, was anything but intimate! In fact, John created his very first Instagram account in order to share the details of their big day with fans around the world.

Three days ago, he shared his first photo, which was an invitation for followers to watch their wedding unfold by using the hashtag #ShareTheLove. In the days leading up to their ceremony and throughout their wedding night, both John and Furnish posted photos of their special day, including a sweet shot after signing their marriage licenses (seen above!), the stuffed bunnies their two sons, Zachary and Elijah, carried down the aisle as ring bearers, and photos of their A-list guests and romantic décor.

All in all, their decision to use social media to share this wonderful time with their fans could not have been done better! We love this intimate look inside their relationship — and fans did, too! John’s account already has over 30,000 followers in just three short days.

Furnish recently told The Las Vegas Review Journal that their decision to wed wasn’t out of a legal obligation, but truly because of their love for one another. “We don’t feel the need to take an extra step legally. But since we’re committed for life, we feel it’s really important to take that step, and take advantage of the amazing change in legislation. We all live by example.”

That’s the legal bit done. Now on to the ceremony! #ShareTheLove DavidFurnish
