Franco-Fête (French Festival)

OUR HISTORY First knows as “Semaine Francophone”, La Franco-Fête was created in 1983 by the French Committee of Toronto. It was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1995 under the name: Franco-Fête de la Communauté urbaine de Toronto. La Franco-Fête, that will be celebrating its 30th year in 2012, has proven itself over the years by presenting great Canadian artists as well as well-known artists from all over. Also, Franco-Ontarian artists, from Toronto and around the province have always found a home at this festival. La Franco-Fête is proud to be an organization whose board members are very active in the functioning of the event.

Thanks to the work of its volunteers, and the support of many community partners, government funders and private sponsors, La Franco-Fête has been able to offer a diverse programming that is getting stronger and stronger every year. Below are some highlights of some of the most recent editions of the festival!

This festival began as a one-day celebration, but has become such a favourite. Formerly held at the Harbourfront, this year it’s at Yonge/Dundas Square. A festival that brings to Toronto a taste of French music and culture on JUNE 21.22.23 (2013) FREE

OUR MISSION

The mission of La Franco-Fête de Toronto has always been to give the Francophones, Francophiles and Anglophones of the region a place to gather and celebrate the diversity of francophone culture. This year, La Franco-Fête will present its inaugural Toronto Festival of International Francophonie. This new initiative will allow Franco-Fête to ensure the vitality of Toronto and Ontario’s francophone culture by presenting social and cultural programming that reflects this rich community, thanks to the many partnerships with the francophone media outlets of the region, community associations and school boards.

This festival will allow us to, even more than ever, create a gathering place that is without borders, open and inviting, one that will allow us to present francophone culture in all its richness and diversity.
