One year ago, President and Mrs. Bush dedicated the George W. Bush Presidential Center to the American people. In honor of the anniversary, we’re sharing some iconic photos from the events surrounding dedication as well as some exclusive behind the scenes images that were not previously released. Enjoy! The George W. Bush Presidential Center is home to the Bush Presidential Library and Museum and the Bush Institute. The Bush Center’s 226,000-square-foot building and 15-acre urban park reside on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

President and Mrs. Bush founded the Bush Center to continue their work expanding freedom at home and around the globe.  Built with private donations, the Bush Presidential Library and Museum opened to the public on May 1, 2013.

National Archives and Records Administration

The George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum is the 13th presidential library in the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) system. The Library and Museum promotes an understanding of the American presidency and provides access to official records and artifacts from the Bush Presidency.  Click here to learn more about NARA and the Presidential Library system.

Southern Methodist University

The Bush Center collaborates with Southern Methodist University to hold events, conduct research, and provide unique learning opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students.

Bush Institute, founded by President and Mrs. Bush in 2009, is a public policy center in Dallas with the mission of advancing freedom by expanding opportunities for individuals at home and across the globe. Built on principles that guided the Bushes in public life, the Bush Institute uses leading research to develop and implement policies that offer practical solutions to pressing problems in the United States and abroad. The Bush Institute engages in the following areas:

George W. Bush was the 43rd President of the United States. He previously served as governor of Texas. On November 5, 1977, he married Laura Welch. They have two daughters, Barbara and Jenna. Barbara is the CEO and co-founder of Global Health Corps. Jenna is a contributing correspondent for NBC’sToday. In 2008, Jenna married Henry Hager.
