The History of Brazilian Music in Toronto

1359
"The History of Brazilian Music" We are pleased to bring for the first time to Toronto a Brazilian musical
that will explain not only factually but also historically one of the most reputable facets of our
cultural elements.

You'll understand why Brazilian music its so respected and beloved in every corner of the world.
Brazilian music had African music as its biggest influence, brought over by slaves, with its
frenetic rhythms and rudimentary instruments. But this was not the only influence that landed
in Brazilian ports at the time of colonization.

Our European colonizers, the Portuguese, brought classical music, ballroom dancing, and
street performers, completely contrasting with the generally unison songs and religious
music of the Natives.

The mixture of these different cultures has become responsible for what we know today
as Brazilian music.
