Kylie Minogue will receive a JC Williamson Award

On July 29, Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue will receive a JC Williamson Award. The honor recognizes outstanding contributions to the Australian live entertainment and performing arts industry.

Sydney, Australia – Minogue will be presented with the special award during the 13th annual Helpmann Awards at the Sydney Opera House.

The Helpmann Awards recognize distinguished artistic achievement and excellence in Australia’s live performance sectors, including musical theatre, contemporary music, comedy, cabaret, opera, classical music, theatre, dance and physical theatre.

It a statement Kylie Minogue said, “My deepest gratitude to Live Performance Australia for the JC Williamson Award. What an honour to be included in such incredibly talented and inspirational company. A moment like this makes me so proud to represent the Australian entertainment industry.

As a country we have, and we nurture, extraordinary talent. Long may this continue! I would also like to thank all my fans who have supported me for so many years and encouraged me to become the artist I am today. They have all played a role in helping me reach this special moment. Also, my congratulations to David Blenkinsop whom I am thrilled to be sharing the award with this year!”

Past winners include such iconic figures as Dame Joan Sutherland OM AC DBE, Barry Humphries AO CBE, Michael Gudinski AM, John Farnham AO and Graeme Murphy AM.

Kylie Minogue and David Blenkinsop will be honoured at the Helpmann Awards ceremony in Sydney on Monday 29 July.
